Note: There isn’t a PDF for this project, all the details are on the Week 5 page.
You will create a tight rendering, a PSD mock up, of what is looks like in Photoshop. (PSD file)
ALSO – since Apple is market driven, YOU will create a full page ad, full bleed, for major magazines across the country, introducing your Apple product. (PSD or PDF file – flattened okay)
(5 thematically related designs- due April 1 in class)
Note: You do not have to do greeting cards, it could be 5 different covers of the SAME magazine. It could be 5 different logos for a client. It could be 5 different characters for a game you are working on, it could be 5 different t-shirt designs showing your style, to a client, it could be 5 graphic skins for a new skateboard collection, it could be 5 different promotional items for the same recording artist, say a 12″ Vinyl LP Album cover, a poster, a CD cover, the actual CD, an EP, or…what? It could be 5 different book covers for a new book. It could be 5 different beer label designs for a new brewery, five different designs for a new food product, Clif Bars, Izzy beverages, Sustainable Chocolate Bars, okay, I can’t stop!!!
Shoot me an email, pitch your idea…and think this…
FIVE INTO ONE…Five different designs for One Project….
If you chose the Greeting Card Example:
You will design a series of greeting cards for a holiday, or a set of note cards. They could be birthday cards, Christmas cards, Blank Note cards. You will create a thematically-related series, being of similar style, feel, coloring, typography, and overall tone. They will be the same size and you only need to do the outside front and outside back of each card. Size? You pick. There is a link to some templates below.
You will turn in, Week 10, on October 25, your layered PSD files, and you will print in color on quality photo paper ($2 each in the Design Lab) and trim your cards for presentation in class. If you print 2 cards ( 2 UP) per sheet, you are spending $1 per card.
I am looking for some use of filters in photoshop for stylization. I do not want strictly photographic work, but work that has been stylized and enhanced to capture the mood of this holiday. Filters in photoshop cover everything from simple colorization to crazy liquefication and blurring.
No envelopes etc. are required to accompany these designs.
