Note: These weekly webpages will typically appear on Tuesdays each week.
Welcome to GCOM 331, Digital Imaging II. We continue our exploration of design principles, digital manipulation and creation of pixel-based imagery, and becoming even more familiar with Adobe Photoshop, the industry-leading image editing software.
Requirements and expectations:
Tom’s Rule of Three: Watch it, Read about it, Do it…(lecture, reading, tutorials)
Introductions; syllabus review and expectations; online resources, and the Mac interface; project files and use of image files and lessons; the “nearly-paperless” course modality; the Creative Cloud, a quick tour of Photoshop CC.
Please read the ENTIRE syllabus. You should have a hard copy. Note: The SYLLABUS is subject to change and it is on this weekly lecture page where changes will be mentioned. You MUST check this site every week for updates etc.
Even years after it went up, a lot of people still don’t know about it.
We’re talking about the free online documentation for all Adobe software – a set of user manuals that can answer quite a few customer questions, and also be a great resource if you don’t own a product yet but want to find out more about it…

This is a two week project that you will present to class. Next week, Week 02, we will go over the specifics of the web gallery and PDF (a review) and I will also have videos for Week 02 that cover this as well as some other interesting, technical topics. The first three or four weeks of this class is basically a review, getting to know CC/CS6 and brushing up a bit our skills if we are rusty using Photoshop.
